The Internet Marketer’s Advanced Analytics

SO….

You track your stats, right?

Who’s coming in, who’s going out and why, all that kind of stuff.

But what do you actually DO with all that data?

Is it paying off for your bottom line? Is it REALLY?

Do you use it to develop your site to perform better, to know your customers better… any of THAT stuff?

Chances are, you need to go a little deeper to make it all worth your while – and your customer’s. Not to mention your own bottom line.

Google Analytics

Now let’s go over a few tools I use to track every change in marketing…

Visual Website Optimizer – the cream of the crop in conversion rate optimization. I’ve used a bunch of others too, but keep coming back to this. It can handle tons of traffic and many a difficult setup, so more power to them. Have done countless tests and yet to run into something it couldn’t handle. Great support, too.

CrazyEgg – As far as heatmaps go, this is the quickest, easiest, just overall nicest tool for the job. I know others like Clicktale can do a few more things, but it also costs more in both effort and time, so CrazyEgg it is. You can even track pages beyond a login with their Page Camera functionality. Pretty cool.

Google Analytics – Yes, the one and only. It’s tough to beat just because it’s free, it’s there and it interfaces with a lot of other tools out there. The best thing about it is the custom variables you can set to track advanced stuff, and the custom reporting you can get out of it. Really drills down to specifics.

DataGrabber – This is a nice adjunct to Google Analytics (and actually for Facebook, YouTube and others as well but I haven’t tried that yet). Pulls the data out of Google Analytics and creates custom charts and reports out of it. Can really help get a picture on some advanced views to your data.

Well, that’s about it for the major tools I’ll recommend. For most companies with limited analytics resources it’s more than enough to keep everything in control.

Actually, there’s one more very important tool that I cannot reveal right now. But I will in the coming months, and believe me it’ll be well worth your attention.

Till then!

Very Nice article. Though these are basic things that everyone is supposed to know and follow but its these that we so often miss or neglect and that’s what, i suppose, differentiates a good blogger from a great one! Thank you for this lovely piece of information.
